Unique Dessert Ideas Include Champagne Truffles

By Jaclyn Hurley

Special occasions are known for their decadent desserts. As with most things, there are usually delicious items that are associated with the event. For weddings, there is almost always two cakes. For birthdays, the ever popular cupcakes come to mind. If eating something specific, like Italian, cheesecakes are perfect. However, when wanting to celebrate a truly special event, like an anniversary, making champagne truffles is sure to please.

Even though there is a type of mushroom that carries the same name, in this case it is not being considered a delicious treat. Instead, we are talking about the unique confectioner's creation designed by Teuscher. This treat is a dark chocolate ganache, rolled in finely dusted powdered sugar. But it is the inside that stands out. The center is a rich, creme infused with Dom Perignon.

As expected, this high class treat was brought out at only the most important occasions. With its high dollar ingredients, however, many people could not afford to indulge in this confectioner's delight. Instead of sadly walking away from the decadent dessert and going back to the basics, individual's began experimenting with their own recipes. To everyone's delight, there are now many varieties available to make without breaking the bank.

In today's fast paced world, finding a fantastic recipe is only as far away as the closest computer. Search the web by enclosing the search words in quotation marks. This pulls up the most relevant recipes. Once the options are shown, take some time to browse the different versions. It is fairly easy to find something even the most challenged cook can be successful with.

One of the great things about this dessert is the variety that can be added to make it even more special. One unique recipe takes the general chocolate ingredients to another level. After the main confection is completed, the still warm ball is gently wrapped in elegant, edible gold leafing. Because the leafing is extremely thin and delicate, it must be applied with a dry brush. Once dried, placing them in a champagne flute is lovely.

Some people are not as fond of dark chocolate as they are other types. In another recipe twist, the milk variety can be used. Rather than dipping the creme center with a dark ganache, it is surrounded by creamy, milk chocolate instead. The result is an almost caramel-like color with rich, mellow flavors.

Many individual's like the look and taste of pink champagne. Including a twist on the color of the dessert can be captivating and opulent. After the base of the creme is complete, melting white chocolate with a red gelatin provides a dainty pink exterior. If serving this version, placing them inside a champagne flute gives the impression of a tasty glass full of flavor.

There is no reason to celebrate special occasions with the same desserts year after year. Rather than purchasing a box of standard chocolate candies, it is just as easy to make a delicious treat by hand. Not only will it show the special person that they are worth the extra effort, but it proves that it is possible to think outside of the box.
