3 Ways To Cook Your Fish

By Rebecca Mills

To say that fish meals are healthful would be an understatement. It doesn't matter whether you go out to purchase the fish or you take it upon yourself to actually catch what you are planning to eat later. Whatever the case may be, it is clear that fish is one of the more healthful types of meat out there. What are the reasons for this, though? Out of all of the meats that can be used for entrees, why should fish be considered before any other option?

Fish is highly regarded for its tremendous source of omega-3 fatty acids and they have a number of benefits to consider. One of the best examples of this is the reduction of inflammation, which only scratches the proverbial surface. It's sad, though, because I do not think that many people understand how to prepare fish while making certain that it retains all of its nutrients. In order for this to be done, here are 3 cooking processes to help your fish stand out.

If the fish that you are working with is thicker, make it a point to go about broiling. This is typically very good for the purpose of working with greater serving sizes, so think about this if you have to serve a multitude of people at once. With that said, you can probably imagine that broiling is a lengthier culinary method to take advantage of. If you want to maximize the benefits associated with broiling, you would be better off planning head for this particular method.

One of the defining characteristics of poaching, in regards to fish cooking, is how it is able to keep the product moist. What this means is that you are left with a savory flavor that might be difficult to attain with other methods. Depending on your tastes, you are going to want to use either chicken or vegetable stock so that your fish can be cooked as effectively as possible. Here's a tip: if you start to see the bottom of your pan bubble, turn down the heat and resume cooking.

For those who may not have as much time on their hands, you cannot go wrong with grilling. Keep in mind that this method is great for those who want to cook quickly and yet be left with meals that are savory nonetheless. While you grill your fish, make sure that you add the right spices so that you do not take away from the taste of the fish you are working with. It's because of these reasons that grilling should be considered for healthful culinary purposes.
