Sweet And Delicate Tampa Wines

By Krystal Branch

Wine grapes were first planted in the state of Florida in the sixteenth century. Although wine making has deep roots there, due to their tropical climate, until the nineteenth century, there was no mass production of Tampa wines. In the thirties, a new hybrid was developed, suited for this type of climate, and it was the real beginning of more serious wine production.

Although there are some wineries in Tampa Bay Area that are specialized in traditional wine production, most wineries produce vines based on citrus, or specific combinations of grapes and other fruits. For example, the Strong Tower Winery produces their original beverages from four different types of grapes. Lately, they also offer very nice blueberry flavored wine.

Traditional vine manufacturers such as The Florida Estates winery in Pasco County, or maybe Rosa Fiorelly, in the town called Bradenton, will give you the opportunity to taste their products every single day. All you need to do is to go there and try them. In Pinellas County, there is a little winery called Florida Orange Groves And Winery. Their products are based on citrus only, but really interesting.

There are no enough grapes varieties here for more serious vine production. That's why they import their grapes from Canada and California. The most popular vines they make here are Pinot Noir, White Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon. Most manufacturers combine these grapes or done vines with fruits, making very interesting and tasty combinations.

Blueberry vine is mostly made from blueberries only, sun-ripened and without sugar added. This warm and full bodied vine is sweet and thick, and goes great with meat dishes. You can choose sweet or dry variation, both are quite interesting, especially during summer. You might enjoy tasting light and delicate strawberry vine, made in combination with Riesling. It is very light and has a beautiful, pale gold color.

Red wines combinations of wild berries and well known Pinot Noir are seductive and aromatic. They pair great with spiced foods, Asian dishes and all intensive tastes. The one made by Keel and Curley winery includes raspberries and blueberries, among other berries, and is widely appreciated.

Tangerine and Zinfandel combination is especially refreshing. The taste is bitter and sweet, and you can make very nice cocktails for hot summer days using this lovely vine. Another tasty and refreshing combination is light and interesting Key West Key Lime. It contains domestic limes and Sauvignon Blanc. The beverage is light and delicate, and it is served chilled.

Blackberries are especially healthy fruits, strong, aromatic, full of anti oxidants and valuable minerals and vitamins. The vine made from these berries is widely recognized and appreciated. All valuable ingredients are perfectly preserved there, and it is important that this vine ages for many months to become so intensive. The taste is strong and intensive, and it takes some time to get used to it, but it will improve your blood characteristics.

Fruit made, grape only or combined, all Tampa wines are best served chilled. Some go great with meat dishes, some are better with light vegetable meals, but you will enjoy sipping any of them in some warm summer evening. They are mostly light and very refreshing, with exciting fruity aromas and interesting tastes.
